"88" (and, sometimes, "1488") are Nazi codewords used to signal support without being too obvious. You see it a lot in prison tattoos and the like. 88 stands for Hail Hitler (H being the 8th letter of the alphabet) while 14 refers to the famous "14 words," the 14-word core message of white supremacist leader David Lane. Nazis and white supremacists, particularly those in prison gangs, like to use the numbers 18 and 1488 as a wink-wink-nudge-nudge plausibly-deniable in-group signalling thing.
