I've never understood why police get essentially unlimited funding for full-on military hardware and basically any tool they can want and the public mainly get shot and beat as a return on their investment whereas firefighters have a legitimately dangerous job. And as someone whose house burned to the ground as a child it sure would have been nice if we had a fire engine closer. Far as I'm concerned local fire departmentsneed pretty much any piece of firefighting gear they could want. A single crackhead on the street corner doesn't need a dozen cops to choke him to death but a single house fire sure as fuck needs a dozen firefighters to keep it from being a dozen housefires. That shit spreads.
