Maybe, but I think no matter what you need to train both your hands to do things they aren't used to doing. It takes a long time to get going no matter what. I wrote this in another reply as well, but the main reason I think it makes more sense to conform to the "righty" style, is that you'll never be the guy who can't pick up a guitar at a friend's house, or a party, or a jam somewhere. I think that's worth getting over the initial hurdle, during which you're going to suck either way. Guitar's a weird one to get used to.
