Folks who make themselves feel better and like they've made a difference by either berating others who don't engage in similar behaviors or talk about how morally superior they are to think the way they do. I mean, yeah the Australia fires are bad but unless I donate money nothing else I can do really helps. So sitting online/Reddit acting all high and mighty because I'm "raising awareness" is a waste of everyone's time. But hey, moral superiority and upvotes/public perception, right?
